JOB DESCRIPTION: Principal Scientist

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan, execute, analyze, and document sample preparation for microfluidic PCR-based gene expression IVD assays under a design control system.
  • Ensure product performance according to CLSI and FDA recommended guidelines: optimization, guard- band, and stability testing, linearity and LOQ, etc.
  • Contribute to scientific strategy on product development.
  • Develop and implement quality control procedures for critical reagents and processes.
  • Keep a detailed research log and summarize work in research reports and presentations.
  • Supervise the activities of direct reports or team members at the junior level.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • PhD degree (or MS plus 3-5 years’ industry experience) in biochemistry or related field(s).
  • Track record of developing diagnostic tests or reagent kits in a regulated environment; knowledge of design control systems, experience assembling FDA documentation.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Deep sample prep experience for IVDs using whole blood as a sample matrix, ideally focused on RNA extraction.
  • Prior work with microfluidic systems is a plus.
  • Prior work with external partners in a development effort is a plus.
  • Very strong analytical and problem-solving skills; organized and efficient.
  • Proven interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment; able to manage competing priorities.

SALARY AND CLASSIFICATION:

  • Classification: Full-time position.

JOB DESCRIPTION: Bioinformatics Scientist

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Execute and document the development of diagnostic biomarkers and algorithms using large gene expression datasets (microarray, RNAseq/NGS, PCR), under direction of senior scientists.
  • Keep a detailed research log and summarize work in research reports and presentations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • MS degree or equivalent work experience in biomedical informatics, computer science, statistics, or related field(s).
  • 3-5 years experience in biotechnology industry or academic research setting.
  • Proficiency with R and/or python and Linux operating system
  • Familiarity with biological data repositories such as GEO and TCGA.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Prior work with microarray/RNAseq data, and/or biomarker development, is a plus.
  • Very strong analytical and problem-solving skills; organized and efficient.
  • Proven interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills; excellent time management skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment; able to manage competing priorities.
