Inflammatix, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated Scientist to drive projects in assay develop and device integration as part of our mission to create a molecular in vitro diagnostic (IVD) assay and device. We are developing instrumentation, consumables, and assays supporting HostDx™. This role is laboratory based and requires exceptional attention to detail for the meticulous execution and analysis of complex quantitative molecular experiments. The scientist’s primary focus will be the optimization of RNA extraction and isothermal nucleic acid amplification methods for integration with an automated platform and consumable. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain experience in early stage development of a growing biotech company.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan, execute, and analyze experiments for diagnostic device development
  • Maintain detailed experimental records and document results
  • Present data at technical meetings
  • Contribute to scientific strategy of product development
  • Assist in maintaining an efficient and functional laboratory environment

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology or related field, or BS/MS in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology or related field with 5+ years of hands-on industrial experience in R&D
  • Proven track record of successful research contributions based on publication history or completed project milestones from previous product development work streams
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with good attention to detail
  • Desire to work in a flexible and fast-paced startup environment
  • Capable of delivering on projects and assignments within timeframes

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Working knowledge of common molecular biology techniques
  • Experience in nucleic acid biochemistry or nucleic acid amplification-based assay development
  • Advanced knowledge of qPCR/qRT-PCR techniques
  • Familiarity with loop-mediated isothermal amplification a plus
  • Advanced knowledge of nucleic acid extraction and purification techniques
  • Experience working with human specimens in a BSL-2 environment
  • Experience with a common statistical analysis software (Prism, MiniTab, MatLab, etc.)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task
  • Good communication skills; ability to synthesize and present data effectively
