Inflammatix, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated Scientist/Sr. Scientist to contribute to assay development activities supporting microfluidic test system development. We are building instrumentation, consumables, and assays for HostDx tests that will rely on RNA extraction and nucleic acid amplification technologies, and the Scientist/Sr. Scientist will perform research and development tasks to optimize these capabilities. This role is laboratory-based and requires exceptional attention to detail. This role will involve development of novel sample preparation methods and Design of Experiments-based (DOE-based) optimization of existing chemistries.   • Plan, execute, analyze, and document mission critical projects
  • Contribute to development of ultra-rapid sample preparation and isothermal amplification protocols
  • Support planning and execute experiments for DOE-based optimization of assay chemistry
  • Contribute to interdisciplinary teams and projects crossing multiple departments
  • Support translation of ultra-rapid chemistries from the bench top to a microfluidic device
  • Plan and execute experiments in support of obtaining FDA clearance for the microfluidic device
  • Execute experiments under a QMS in a GLP/ISO 13485 environment


  • D. in Molecular Biology or related field with a minimum of 2-4 years industry R&D experience, MS in Molecular Biology or related field with a minimum of 6-10 years industry R&D experience
  • Proven track record of contributions to assay or product development in molecular diagnostics and/or medical devices
  • Strong attention to detail, self-motivation, good organizational skills, ability to prioritize and multi-task, and able to work both independently and as part of a team
  • In-depth knowledge of a broad range of molecular biology techniques such as various PCR techniques, NGS, library preparation, hybridization technologies, nucleic acid isolation and manipulation
  • Experience working under design control


  • Strong organization and problem-solving skills and proven ability to manage details
  • Experience with nucleic acid extraction from common diagnostic sample matrices
  • Experience with nucleic acid amplification; qRT-PCR and/or isothermal amplification
  • Knowledge of DOE-based assay optimization is a plus
  • Prior work with microfluidic systems is a plus
  • Comfortable working in a BSL2 environment
  • Capable of agile time management; able to multiple work streams simultaneously
  • Proven interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft office suite of programs
  • Proficient with one or more common graphical analysis software(s) (Graphpad Prism, JMP, MiniTab, etc.)
